Snug — Privacy Policy
Snug is a block puzzle game for Android. You can play all of it without an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, contacts, location or photos. This page explains the little data the game does handle, and who handles it.
What stays on your phone
Your scores, streak, puzzle progress, saved games and settings are stored on your device. If Android backup is turned on in your phone's settings, Google may include that data in your device backup so it comes back when you reinstall or change phones. We cannot see it.
Leaderboards
When you finish a ranked game (Today's puzzle, Endless or Time Trial) while online, the game sends that run to our server, which runs on Google Firebase, so your score can appear on the leaderboard. To do that:
- The game signs in anonymously. This creates a random ID for your installation. It is not linked to your Google account, your name or your email.
- You get a randomly generated display name such as "Cozy Moose 42". You can re-roll it; you cannot type one.
- We receive the moves of that run so the server can check the score is genuine. We store your best score for each board, how many moves it took, your daily streak, your display name, and when it was posted. The list of moves is checked and then discarded.
- Google Play Integrity / Firebase App Check confirms the request comes from a genuine copy of Snug on a genuine Android device. This helps keep cheated scores off the boards.
Daily boards are deleted automatically after about 60 days and weekly boards after about 120 days. As with any internet service, Google's servers process your IP address to deliver these requests; we do not store it in our database.
Crash reports
If the game crashes or hits an error, a report goes to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix it. A report contains what went wrong, the game mode, your device model and Android version, and a random installation ID. It does not contain your name, your scores or anything you typed.
Advertising
Snug is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, and information about how you interact with ads, to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud. This is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. You can decline and still play, and you can change your choice at any time from Ad choices on the game's menu. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with anyone other than the Google services named above, which process it on our behalf or, for advertising, under their own policies. Snug has no chat, no friends list and no free-text fields.
Deleting your data
In the game, open Leaderboards and choose Delete my leaderboard data. This immediately and permanently removes your display name, every score you have posted and your anonymous ID from our server. Data stored on your phone is removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it. If you no longer have the game installed, see how to request deletion.
Children
Snug is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes and contact
